Relaxing Jay looked at the refection of the moon in the water and felt the cold current brush by the bottoms of his feet. Tonight he realised that the current was very strong and was in fact pulling his legs to try and take him down river. But not that made him take his legs out but an object that rubbed past his left foot; Jay then jerked his foot right out of the water splashing his socks which were now both soaking wet. Smiling he looked at Raven who had stayed and not gone back to the barracks Jay said looking back at his boots, ”I guess it’s just not my lucky day” but really it was he had slayed a monster met and kissed an amazing girl and really had a good day of training getting better at using a sword.
Showing how happy he was not trying to give Raven the wrong idea he squeezed her hand for reassurance that Jay was happy but his thoughts were dimmed by an image of his sister and him the one time when Mary was one and he had took her down to the shore and he was yelled at for it while she was laughing and slapping the mud, then the image changed he was looking at the same little girl in the hospital when she died. Coming back to reality with Raven he found himself with a tear running down his cheek. Wanting to keep it together and not cry anymore he lied back in the sand still holding Raven’s hand which seemed to be giving him strength he looked at the moon.
Happy with its beauty he could tell that it was only ten minutes until curfew and that was when the supposedly monsters came out to bring back any wondering campers but that was only what he had heard from some of the gossip that went around in the mess hall. Suddenly a bit worried he thought of what would happen if this got out; him and Raven, Jay wondered if they would be supportive or disapproving and rude. Feeling the curiosity on his face he sat up and rested on his elbow and looked at Raven; thinking of the time he dated another girl and she said to keep it a secret and well that didn’t last too long. Wanting this to last very much he said, ” I don’t really know how or why I might be saying this but from past experiences...... well would you like to keep us a secret or..... I don’t know.” unsure what to say he wondered if this was it was she going to say there was no us and end it or keep it a secret or just be proud as Jay was.
Hoping not to be turned down he felt a little sweat on his neck because he was nervous, scarcely Jay looked at the ground thinking he might have just ended this whole thing worriedly Jay looked back up with shine in his eyes from the reflection of the moon on the Little Tiber. Pleading with his eyes he made it kinder and not so desperate he looked directly in Raven’s eyes and frankly got lost unable to speak a word he sat up again and dug his toes in the sand tensing his every muscle, waiting for Raven to say something.
