THE RULES
WELCOME
Hello and welcome guest/member to When We Collide, a post son of poseidon site based off of the notable novels and movies out or to come of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" which is set in this age such as the books mention. Just like many different forums and Role-Playing sites there are rules for without them you would have chaos would you not? Yes and it seems you have definitly sought them out for here they are. So go ahead give yourself a cookie or a party for accomplishing this!
GETTING STARTED
Guests, take note that this site is based on the novels of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, or also known as the Camp Halfblood Series. Even though its still farther into the same things in the books are still here. If you haven't read them or seen the first movie it doesn't mean that you can't join, although it is a good thing to read the books for they hold many secrets. However the good thing with the technological age we are in you can always look such information up on Wiki or just simply ask a member of what you seek.
For Remember the members are here to help, but they aren't there to do all the heavy lifting for you and that is just as simple as that. First off Registering members must be at least 13 years of age for that is how it is if you art not 13 or older than you'll be deleted plain and simple as that. This site is rated PG-13 for minor explicit material which is mostly suited for teens and above any registering member should read and understand the TOS. Those who are registering with disabilities if you have troubles and need assistance please leave a message for the admin named "Dreamer".
Create an account and remember to change the username to the name of your character that you are applying for. ONly one account per character, that way it isn't so confusing. There's no limit for accounts just keep track of them or if left unattended for too long will put them in the hot seat to be deleted. Most of the site info would be in one place so it shouldn't be too hard to find it if directed in the right place. You'll be able to find it in the side tables which if you are not known of what they are, they're the side portions of the site with information, and links to certain parts. If needing even more assistance with navigating the site just ask the staff or another member and they'll try to steer you in the right direction. As well the site will be updated when needed so as to keep things fresh
OUT OF CHARACTER
OOC for those who don't know what this acronym means it stands for out of character, on most sites most of the comedy and such happens in the OOC section. However there are other means of having the crazy and comedy in character or IC one for instance in the "In Character TAG", as well as to goof around and do what not. However there are a few rules which need to be abided even in Out of Character. One no sexually explicit images, texts, or links are allowed on the board for this will cause for When We Collide to be closed for good, another thing is to consider is that there is no overexcessive swearing anywhere at all. Sure the occasional "Dang" is acceptable, but just don't use the big F's or S's words consistently, people will turn away from the site if it happens.
Second NO DRAMA it will not be tolerated anywhere, if any overdone drama is caught it will be reported promptly. Keep all bias at the preverbial door of the site any descrimination or harassment will be dealt with in the most imaginable and dangerous ways possible deletion and banning if overdone and isn't stopped at the warning. Third thing NO PORN you will be hunted for that, told to take it off, and not to ever do it again. Repeated offenders will be AUTOMATICALLY deleted fromthe site for it is not allowed on any and all proboard sites. Now some fleshy pics are tolerable, but no full nude remember that there are people behind the characters some forget that major detail. We know we are real so others should logically know the same. If any OOC issues crop up let please inform the staff so they can deal with it. If its the staff that are a issue, please talk to that staff member privately or let other staff members know that they need to talk to that particular member.
OOC posting is just as important and as much fun as IC posting its a good way to get to know your fellow members. Make sure all topics are reasonable and are not spam as always, have fun its what we're here for, Play hard, don't be shy just jump in, Rp like hell, don't take it personal, and finally to let the good times roll!
POWERPLAY AND GODMODDING
Ah, Powerplay and godmodding they go oh so hand in hand do they not? Powerplaying is acting as if you control the other person's character. Which you don't for example, "Percy pulls out a sword and begins to duel with annabeth as she swipes with her dagger." do you see what's wrong? The one controlling or playing Percy could not in the same sense control that of Annabeth, for what all could of been said by Annabeth or the one who plays Annabeth's character. Any reports of powerplaying will be investigated and you will be punished accordingly.
Godmodding is a little bit different in the sense of the word itself, "lets say that Percy had in fact pulled out his sword and and annabeth tried to slash at his swordhand, but it just rebounded." who sees the problem here? Yes you who is sitting right in front of your computer with a dazed and zoning look starting to drool and lean ever so closer cause you think you can get away with zoning in and out like that, well wake up! That's right he acted like he was invincible and unable to be killed and yet annabeth had no chance. You are not GOD for Luke thought he was and had all the answers and look at what he got in the process, that's the end of the story. No character is unkillable not even the greek gods for even they can be destroyed or brought down and have flaws of their own.
CHARACTERS AND CANONS
All and every member must fill out a application it is a given for anyone making a new character or applying for a canon, which failure to do so just means there is no character and thus no way for you to rp. All apps must have a stamp or some sort of way of an admin approving of your character it could be one or two saying yes, no or both being indifferent and can't agree fully I.E. a tie. However if any member is rejected for any reason, a member has a "three strikes" to fix the app(s) before it is completely denied. Rejected forms will be placed in the denied folder. If a staff member tells you, your app might not be ready take the helpful hints which they give you and work with them. Remember the effort given in is the gratitude given out so please, do not argue with the staff over whether or not the advice is good or not. Make sure that all apps are spelled right and grammar is correct. No using of short lingo or chat speak in filling out the forms unless absolutely necessary. It can get mundane to read as well as annoying trying to desifer when it isn't even literary sound. As well as no mary sues whatsoever meaning no one hundred percent perfect characters, for characters have flaws and most characters on When We Collide D.I.D's either. If the staff catch a Mary Sue character they will advise you either that you severely change the character or that you let that character go altogether and try again with a new one. Any new character that is to Mary Sue style and is not agreed to be changed at all will hence be automatically denied and placed and filed away.
Original characters, for the most part are just that and by app form MUST be original in the sense of the word. Now granted you may have a character you might like from another source like these and you like their attributes, but not everything can be just like that character you like. Now as for pictures whatever just as long as they haven't been used by someone else on the site. Work on the app MUST be done by that member and that member alone. However it is okay to ask for some help or advice just don't let another member or staff do your work for you they won't thank you for that. Note to all members characters might take up to a week to be processed, if after a week is over and the character has still not been processed, please then inform the staff.
Most important part of the site comes from the plots' canons, a member who plans on wanting to apply for a canon MUST be somewhat active at minimum, are very good at rping, and should know the novels of Percy Jackson. If the person doesn't know much about it then they can research it by looking on wiki, asking another member, or read the books. All canons that a member wants to play must be approved by the staff, which again would be one or two staff members. They get the say if you can play a particular canon, all canons that are NPC (Non-player characters) for the canons to play until someone full time takes it up.
ROLEPLAY
This site is a literate one and so should be a good read for everyone in any situation in character or IC posts should be a good length and not paper-like. Have some fun and do what you can inside the borders which are the rules. If there are anything to go on about your character or the surroundings then use it. For it should be fun and something you'd want to do and not something your obligated, made, or forced to post or reply, a two hundred word IC post is good and anything above and beyond that is just icing on the cake to show what your made of. Most IC posts are third person and so should be no posts like "nico pokes percy" it should in the tense of "Nico poked Percy". As well remember that this is a literate site and so try your very best not to have grammar or spelling errors in your post if you need to ask someone how a word is spelt or use the spellchecker for that is one of the reasons it is there. If you post in something that is suppose to be in IC then make it sound like its in that mode and only use OOC or some form when you're making some kind of note to yourself or to others about the post as well as clarifying something to the other posties. Again godmodding is not allowed also unless its an open thread don't just step on in and mess up the rotation you should ask permission if you can enter into the thread,
Structure, is key to a post although make sure it not only flows with you, but as well with the rest of the thread. So not every member who reads or are apart of the thread aren't asking questions or so confused they don't know what is going on. Therefore in order to keep this from happening try to remember that which is important i.e. plot, characters, setting, and the interaction between them a good thread is one that is seamless and flows smoothly. The characters interact in deeper ways in what one would expect. No one likes a paper thin thread, meaning flat and boring so if you need help in beefing up your skills for the bulk part of the writing ask someone who may be able to help you. Timelines are a very big problem for some folks especially that of time progression. If you can't keep track of the specifics of characters, date, time, and location then you can place it at the top of your post you make. That way not only you know where your character is at, at that time but also other members will know as well, its another thing to make life easier.
No Mary Sue posts they're obnoxious for no one will want to post with someone who is make over dramatic displays of playing the part of the damsel in distress, want all the attention on them all the time just so they can act pathetic 24/7, or to make their post so light and fluffy it makes one's tooth ache it seems 'unreal'. its not to say that there can't be elements of the above done every once in a while, it just means it can't be done all the time. No cyber rapping any of the most popular characters for there are again real people behind them and they could be either not interested in that with every guy if its a girl or visa-versa for the actual person could also be not of that gender. You see it at times guys and girls both doing multiple gender characters. Now don't be discouraged relationship stuff is fine, in some instances its encouraged just don't overdo it or force posts to make them do it for they won't appreciate you for that. Also note not everyone will want to do relationships with someone if they don't want to, for there is only one of that character and they could already be doing a relation with someone else, so do that person a favor and check with them and see if they're not already in a relationship with another character.
Do not make your posts god-like cause no character is like that say for the sake of gods self. Even then if god himself was on a site like this the character would have to be played down, so yeah no character is 100% A1 steak perfect make sure that characters have flaws throughout threads. Please try and refrain from using size 1 font, its not against the rules its just try and refrain from doing it. There may be members who cannot see it easily. You can have a good post or a fancy post its your choice, but always try to weigh the the odds of which might do better in other words readability over looking fancy.
IMAGES AND STYLES
You already know the restrictions on sexually explicit images, but did you know that there are actually more than porn on the internet! me neither until now anyway gory, offensive, or otherwise unsafe images are banned from the forum for obvious reasons. Also rapidly blinking images as we want to respect our members who may have epilepsy and/or other disabilities that may be triggered by those very images. Images found to be within violation of that will be removed and depending on the offense of the image a ban may be implemented to ensure members safety. Another thing is please do not stretch the board, if you know an image will stretch the board wider than normal please post the link instead of the [/IMG] tags.
As you can probably see When We Collide has the proboard enhanced code set in place for the enjoyment of our wonderful users. With these codes in place you can do a variety of things with the tables, post classes, and even use CSS coding within the tags. If you know anything about CSS you know that some of the coding can really mess things up, so don't stretch the board with these codes cause its rude. Also give credit where credit is due if your using a template someone made for you make sure to tell everyone who did it! I'm sure they'll appreciate getting the word out there that they're awesome so keep that in mind!
PERSONAL MESSAGE / PM
There has always been a huge conflict with PMs (personal messages) as is obvious theres no sexually explicit/offensive/unsafe images in pms, blah blah blah, but theres no advertisement via PM unless the person in question actually requests for a link to a site you are not to send advertisements through PM. If you really want to advertise there is a board to place such ads in. Please note that any violation of the PM rules will result in your PM privileges being revoked!
TOLLERANCE AND FLAMing
As you should of already guessed by now, we have a very strict rule on intolerance in general rudeness. In essentials, you will not ridicule your fellow members by the color of their skin, sexuality, lifestyle, or otherwise. Violation of that rule will result in immediate and if necessary permanent termination of your account. On the subject rudeness towards staff, members, guests, or any other member of our society will not be tolerated and will result in termination of your account!
STAFF
You really have to love the staff, correct? Well think about this; they have jobs to do and any impediment on how well they can perform that task depends on how well the members act. Don't disrespect the staff at all, I don't care if they killed your goldfish! Keep your personal issues out of here.
On a separate note don't expect on just come here and immediately become a staff member, be patient cause there is a chance that we the staff will recruit you personally if we see that you are active enough in the community. So follow all the rules and you may be rewarded, but if your not rewarded oh well it gives you a higher social status.
EVENTS
OTM awards will be given out each and every month at the behest of the staff of who they unamiously agree on those who are nominated most. However this might change by how busy the staff and other things get
